You Can Lead A Horse to Water...

This week I was faced with a situation that reminded me of the purpose, the reason, and the task of being a Pastor. Much like a parent, teacher, a doctor, a lawyer, or manager or supervisor- Pastors are positioned to teach the principles, and pathway of life that a relationship with Christ can offer.

At times, like the professions named above, we have to allow those we are intrusted to offer guidance and teaching to the opportunity to choose and make the decisions that will help their lives the most.  Does this formula always work? Of course not, we are naive to think that every student, every patient, every co worker, and every child will always do the best or right thing.

There comes a time when people have to decide to grow and mature - not based on what others have said or even taught them - but for their lives to get the maximum growth.

1 Corinthians 13:11
When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things.

Childish to me is not defined by ages - but by decisions and life choices at the level we are at. Too many times drama finds us, things get crazy, and the actions and decisions of those we are connected to - cause us to be looked upon a certain way. Be encouraged today - that your lifestyle, your choices, your reputation, your "growth" is not or should NEVER be based on the actions, words, or decisions of others.

MATTHEW 10:14
If any household or town refuses to welcome you or listen to your message, shake its dust from your feet as you leave.

Again, after you do what you can, and live your life the BEST WAY ( not perfect - its not possible) you can - others will be responsible for their decisions.

So live you life - the best YOU can - and for those you try to help along the way - keep encouraging them - keep praying for them---but again....you can ONLY TAKE A HORSE TO WATER.......
